Sport today occupies an important place in society. Today there is a large variety of sports and one of them is figure skating.
Figure skating is a sport in which individuals, duos, or groups perform on figure skates on ice.In figure skating, there are 5 disciplines: men's single skating, women's single skating, pair figure skating, sport dancing and group synchronized skating.
From juvenile through senior-level competition, skaters generally perform two programs (short and free skating) which, depending on the discipline, may include spins, jumps, moves in the field, lifts, throw jumps, death spirals, and other elements or moves.

The origins of figure skating lie in the distant past, and are rooted in the Bronze Age, according to archaeological finds - bone skates. But the birth of figure skating, as a sport, is associated with the moment when skates began to be made of iron, not bone. According to research for the first time it happened in Holland, in the XII-XIV century.

The first clubs of figure skating appeared in the XVIII century in the British Empire in Edinburgh (1742). A list of figures required for execution in competitions and the first official competition rules were also developed there. Artillery Lieutenant Robert Jones published The Treatise on Skating (1772), in which he described all the main figures that were then known.Figure skating as a separate sport was formed in the 60s of the 19th century and in 1871 it was recognized at the 1st Congress of skaters. The first competitions were held in Vienna in 1882 among male figure skaters.
In 1908 and 1920, figure skating competitions were held at the Olympic Games. Figure skating is the first winter sport to be included in the Olympic program. Since 1924, figure skating has consistently been included in the program of the Winter Olympic Games.
Figure skating is a dangerous sport with a high probability of injury. To begin to train professionally you need to be 5 years old. If there is a desire to learn this spectacular sport just for yourself, then you can start training at any age.
