A friend in need.

This is a story that happened long ago with Mr. Burton. One day a man,who was his namesake, came to him and asked for a job, as he was down and out. Mr. Burton did not want to give him a job, as he considered him good-for-nothing. When his namesake said that he had swum for his university, Mr. Burton had an idea. He told his namesake to swim from Shioya Club round the beacon and land at the creek of Tarumi. It was rather difficult on account of the currents round the beacon. The namesake had to do this to get a job. He hesitated for a moment because he wasn’t in condition: he drank too much and ruined his health. But then he accepted his offer. When Mr.Burton appeared at the appointed time at the creek, his namesake was not there. He drowned.
This story caused in me mixed feelings.
